Emma Ellwood-Russell
Project Manager, LIVE Futures
An information junkie who knew she wanted to make magazines when she turned ten, Emma managed to wait until it was the legal age to work. Learning the practicalities and craft during her publishing degree, she began working for Dazed & Confused magazine at the age of 20. Her relentless work ethic saw her working her way up from production assistant to running the production of three magazine titles (plus many a book – juggling up to 1500 pages at one point), within two years of climbing the bottom rung. Six years after joining Dazed Emma took a brief sojourn to learn how to become an Osho warrior and see whether creating a new religion would be as profitable as L. Ron Hubbard made it sound (it is). Back on planet earth, she tried her hand as Brand Manager at exposure to get that commercial edge she’d always wondered about, but now has landed at LIVE in what she calls her “dream role.” She is a visiting lecturer at Oxford Brookes on the publishing BA and MA. An armchair revolutionary/ political activist, Emma cultivates her own kitchen garden on her balcony.
